Pregnancy can be an exciting time, but changes in posture, weight distribution, sleep, and everyday movement can also leave your back, hips, pelvis, or neck feeling uncomfortable.
Pain may begin to affect walking, sitting, working, exercising, sleeping, getting in and out of the car, or simply enjoying this special time.
At Collin Chiropractic in Buford, Dr. Richard Collin provides gentle, individualized chiropractic care for expectant mothers. He takes time to listen, understand what you are feeling, and explain whether chiropractic care may be appropriate for you.
Pregnancy discomfort can affect much more than your back. It can change how you sleep, move, work, exercise, and get through ordinary parts of your day.
You do not have to assume that discomfort is simply something you must live with. Call us, and we’ll help you decide whether an evaluation is appropriate.
Call 770-361-8225Your body adapts throughout pregnancy. Those changes can affect muscles, joints, posture, balance, and the way physical stress is distributed.
As the abdomen grows, the body’s center of gravity shifts. This can change posture and place additional demand on the lower back, hips, and surrounding muscles.
Muscles and joints may work differently to support changes in body weight and movement, especially during walking, standing, lifting, or getting in and out of bed.
Some expectant mothers experience pain around the sacroiliac joints, hips, pubic area, or lower pelvis, particularly during weight-bearing or uneven movements.
A history of back pain, pelvic discomfort, reduced mobility, or an earlier injury may become more noticeable as pregnancy progresses.
Every pregnancy is different, and comfort can change from one visit to the next. Positioning, examination, and care are adapted to how you feel that day.
Nothing should feel rushed or unexplained. You are encouraged to speak up, ask questions, and let us know what feels comfortable.
“I know it can feel stressful to have pain during pregnancy, especially when your first concern is your baby. I’ll listen carefully, explain everything before we begin, and make sure you feel comfortable every step of the way. Care is always gentle and adapted to you. If I believe your obstetrician, midwife, or another provider should be involved, I’ll tell you. My goal is for you to feel heard, cared for, and reassured.”
The evaluation is adapted to your stage of pregnancy, symptoms, comfort, and health history.
Imaging is not routinely part of pregnancy chiropractic care. If symptoms suggest that additional evaluation is needed, Dr. Collin will coordinate with or refer you to an appropriate prenatal or medical provider.
Chiropractic care during pregnancy should never feel rushed or forceful. Recommendations depend on your symptoms, pregnancy stage, health history, comfort, and examination findings.
Pillows, supports, and modified positioning may be used so you do not have to lie in an uncomfortable position.
When appropriate, care may focus on areas of restricted movement, muscle tension, posture, and discomfort affecting the back, hips, pelvis, neck, or surrounding joints.
Dr. Collin may discuss gentle mobility, positioning, activity modifications, or other steps that may make everyday movement more comfortable.
Chiropractic care does not replace prenatal care from your obstetrician, midwife, or other maternity provider. When symptoms fall outside the musculoskeletal system or require additional evaluation, referral is the right next step.
Perhaps discomfort is keeping you from sleeping through the night, taking a walk, working comfortably, preparing the nursery, playing with your children, exercising, attending a baby shower, or simply feeling present during your pregnancy.
The goal of care is not just to talk about pain. It is to help you move through daily life with greater comfort and confidence whenever possible.
Small adjustments to positioning and daily routines may help you feel more comfortable between appointments.
Contact your obstetrician, midwife, or other prenatal provider promptly if pain is new, severe, persistent, or accompanied by symptoms that do not appear musculoskeletal.
For emergencies or severe symptoms, call 911 or seek immediate medical care.
Pregnancy-related changes can affect the back, hips, pelvis, legs, and other weight-bearing joints.

Meet Dr. Collin →Care must be individualized. Dr. Collin reviews your symptoms, pregnancy stage, health history, and comfort before making recommendations. He also refers patients to their prenatal or medical provider when chiropractic care is not the appropriate starting point.
There is no single starting point that is right for everyone. Some patients seek care early, while others develop discomfort later in pregnancy. The decision depends on your symptoms, health history, prenatal guidance, and examination findings.
No. Positioning can be modified using supports, pillows, side-lying positions, or other comfortable arrangements based on your stage of pregnancy and symptoms.
Chiropractic care may be appropriate for some musculoskeletal back, hip, pelvic, or joint complaints during pregnancy. Dr. Collin will evaluate what may be contributing and explain whether care or referral is appropriate.
No. Dr. Collin provides chiropractic care for pregnancy-related musculoskeletal discomfort, such as back, hip, pelvic, neck, and joint pain. He does not provide obstetric care or attempt to reposition a baby in the womb. Questions about fetal position, labor, or pregnancy complications should be discussed with your obstetrician or midwife.
Contact your prenatal provider for symptoms such as bleeding, fluid leakage, contractions, severe abdominal or pelvic pain, fever, significant swelling, severe headache, vision changes, reduced fetal movement, or symptoms that feel urgent or unusual.
If back, hip, pelvic, or joint discomfort is affecting your sleep, movement, work, or ability to enjoy your pregnancy, Dr. Richard Collin will take the time to listen and help you understand the next step.
