Pain Shouldn’t Keep You From Living Your Life

Whether it’s reaching into the top kitchen cabinet, carrying groceries, playing pickleball, golfing with friends, gardening on the weekend, walking the dog, traveling, or picking up your grandchild, joint pain can slowly take away the activities you enjoy most.

At Collin Chiropractic, our goal is to help you understand what is happening, move with more confidence, and get back to the moments that matter most.

Common Causes Of Shoulder, Knee, Hip & Joint Pain

Joint pain can come from injuries, repetitive motion, muscle imbalance, restricted movement, compensation patterns, or irritation in the surrounding muscles and soft tissues.

Sports Injuries

Shoulder, knee, hip, ankle, elbow, wrist, and hand pain may develop after sports, workouts, running, golf, pickleball, tennis, or other activities.

Repetitive Use

Typing, gripping, lifting, tool use, yard work, and repeated motions can irritate joints and surrounding soft tissues over time.

Falls, Slips & Twists

A fall, awkward step, sudden twist, or old sprain may leave a joint feeling painful, unstable, stiff, or weak.

Auto Accident Injuries

Car accidents can affect more than the neck and back. Shoulder, hip, knee, wrist, or ankle pain may appear after a collision.

Posture & Compensation

When one area hurts, the rest of the body may adapt. Over time, compensation can place added stress on nearby joints.

Restricted Joint Motion

When a joint is not moving comfortably, surrounding muscles and tissues may tighten, creating pain, stiffness, or reduced mobility.

How Dr. Collin Evaluates Joint Pain

Great care starts with understanding what is causing the problem — not guessing.

Listens to your symptoms and concerns.
Reviews your injury, work, activity, and health history.
Checks joint motion, tenderness, and mobility.
Evaluates surrounding muscles and soft tissue involvement.
Looks for compensation patterns affecting other areas.
Performs orthopedic checks when appropriate.
Determines whether digital X-rays or referral may be appropriate.
Explains findings clearly and without pressure.

Our Approach To Extremity & Joint Pain

Chiropractic extremity care may help improve joint motion, reduce irritation, support better movement, and identify when additional evaluation or referral may be appropriate.

At Collin Chiropractic, the goal is not to rush into treatment. The goal is to understand what is happening, explain your options clearly, and help you decide what makes sense for your body, your goals, and your daily life.

Home Care Tips For Joint Pain

Simple reminders while your body heals.

✓ Don’t Push Through Sharp Pain

Mild soreness and sharp pain are not the same thing. If an activity causes sharp, worsening, or unusual pain, stop and have it evaluated before pushing harder.

✓ Keep Moving, But Respect Your Limits

Gentle movement can often be helpful, but forcing painful motion may make irritation worse. The goal is comfortable movement, not proving you can tolerate pain.

✓ Notice Compensation Patterns

Limping, favoring one side, changing how you lift, or avoiding certain movements can place stress on other areas of the body. These patterns are important clues.

✓ Ice Or Heat?

Recent injuries often respond better to ice early on, while ongoing stiffness may feel better with gentle heat. If you’re unsure what makes sense for your pain, we’re happy to help.

Remember...

Home care tips can often make you more comfortable, but they do not replace a proper evaluation. If joint pain is severe, worsening, follows an injury, causes weakness, or keeps returning, it is important to have it checked.

Shoulder, Knee, Hip & Joint Pain FAQ

Can a chiropractor help with shoulder pain?

Chiropractic care may help some types of shoulder pain, especially when restricted joint movement, muscle tension, posture, or compensation patterns are contributing factors. Dr. Collin will evaluate your symptoms and explain whether chiropractic care may be appropriate.

Can chiropractic care help knee or hip pain?

Some knee and hip pain may be related to joint restriction, muscle imbalance, altered movement, or compensation from another area. Evaluation helps determine what may be contributing to the problem.

Do you treat wrists, hands, elbows, ankles, and feet?

Yes. Dr. Collin evaluates many extremity complaints involving the wrist, hand, elbow, ankle, foot, shoulder, hip, and knee. Care depends on your symptoms, exam findings, and whether chiropractic treatment is appropriate.

What if my joint pain started after a car accident?

Joint pain after a car accident should be evaluated, especially if it involves the shoulder, wrist, hip, knee, ankle, neck, or back. Documentation and appropriate care can be important after a collision.

Will I need X-rays?

Not every patient needs X-rays. If your injury history, symptoms, or examination findings suggest imaging may be helpful, Dr. Collin will explain why before moving forward.

When should I seek urgent medical care for joint pain?

Seek urgent care if you have severe pain after trauma, obvious deformity, inability to bear weight, major swelling, numbness, weakness, fever, signs of infection, or sudden loss of function.
